Ethiopia - Day #4 (v)

It is now Wednesday night here in Ethiopia and sweet Noah is asleep in his crib. What can I say about him, other than he is one of the best babies I have ever been around. We started off the day by sleeping in until 10, after not sleeping much at all the night before. We then met up with Girmachew and headed to Kids Care Orphanage to pick up Noah for good. When we got to the orphanage the caretakers changed Noah’s diaper and then into a new outfit that we brought for him. He looked so cute. We then handed out gifts to the nannies and the orphanage director and took pictures before we left. It was sad seeing some of the nannies saying goodbye, you could tell they were going to miss him.
We then headed to the U.S. Embassy for our appointment to get Noah’s passport and visa. We went through a few security checkpoints and then went in a room upstairs with about 30 people waiting. Girmachew stood in line for us and paid the fee for the passport and visa and then we waited. We only waited about 10 minutes before they called our name. We went up to the window, handed the lady a few documents and she had us raise our hand and swear that what was in the papers was true. She asked us a few questions about Noah and then handed us his original birth certificate and other documents. Girmachew just has to go back tomorrow afternoon to pick up his passport and visa. It was a very easy and smooth process!
We then headed to lunch at Blue Tops restaurant, and meanwhile a rainstorm complete with hail came through. Luckily we were indoors. After lunch we went to a couple more stores for a few more gifts and then headed back to the hotel. Noah was so good during all this. We fed him some rice cereal at lunch and he ate very well. And then he fell asleep against Daddy’s chest in the baby Bjorn. He is so good and doesn’t even fuss or cry when he is tired. He just falls asleep.
Once back to the hotel we laid Noah on the bed and he had such a good time rolling around and giggling. We then decided to change his diaper… hehe, a very funny story. So Scott has never changed a diaper before and so I decided to tape the experience and talk him through it. Scott started changing the diaper and Noah had both peed and pooped. Scott was wiping and then removed the diaper out from underneath. Right before the new diaper got back underneath, Noah let out some rather liquidy poop all over our bed. So Scott is rather traumatized from his 1st diaper changing experience.
At dinner tonight we ate at the pizzeria in the hotel, and Noah fell asleep again in the baby Bjorn. When we got back to the room we woke him up and gave him a bath, fed him some rice cereal and he was back asleep in about 20 seconds flat. He is just so precious and we can’t thank God enough for the little angel he has placed in our lives.
Here is a short video of Noah playing in the bathtub with Scott:
