Arrival Home

Well we made it! First, thank you to all those that greeted us at the airport when we arrived home! We have been so encouraged and appreciate the support we have received from our friends, family and others going through adoptions over this last week. All the comments and efforts you have made have had a tremendous impact on Courtney and I as we’ve gone through this experience…

We figured we spent about 27 hours traveling between the time we arrived at the airport in Ethiopia and the time we landed in Indianapolis.  When we arrived at the airport there were about 20 people waiting to greet us.  Before we left the terminal to meet everyone Courtney changed Noah in to one of his cute Hawaiian shirts and white shorts.  It was so much fun to see everyone and Noah loved it too.

After that we went back to our house where Courtney’s mom made some lasagna to eat.  Our families got to spend time with Noah playing with him and holding him.  It was really neat to see him respond to everyone. We also watched much of the video we took (including the traumatic first diaper change, see here if you’re not sure what I’m talking about) to show everyone what Ethiopia was like and our first days with Noah.

The amazing thing is Noah did not sleep this whole time.  We finally got him to sleep after everyone left (except my parents who are staying for a week) and he is now spending his first hours in his new home.  As I type this I am watching the video monitor of him sleeping.  I love being a father, this is an amazing experience.
